“Cheer Danshi!” is an amazing show to watch. You can genuinely connect with the characters. They work hard to reach their dream of attending the national cheerleading competition. Some even have to overcome past traumas and fear of heights. The art and animation is marvelous and beautiful. The voices of the actors fit perfectly with the characters, and the character designs are simply fantastic.
Haruki Bando is disheartened when he finds out that after his injury he can no longer participate in his Japanese martial arts club called Judo. However, in comes his best friend Kazuma Hashimoto to comfort and cheer him up while telling to try something new. Haruki agrees with Kazuma, and together they create an all boys’ cheerleading team called “BREAKERS.” Many people call them Cheer Boys because it is in all male squad. At first it was only them two but soon other boys join them. With mixed personalities such as being argumentative, voracious, frivolous, and athletic the boys tend to have tons of arguments though they still manage to get work done.
I Really enjoyed this show because it was really unique. It’s rare to see boys profoundly shown doing stereotypical girl activities. The boys really take their club seriously as they also practice smiling, shouting, cheering, and doing tricks. I enjoyed how motivated they were when trying to qualify for the cheerleading nationals. To the boys, cheerleading was not a girl activity, but just another sport where they could show their different talents such as acrobatics, strength, flexibility, and loud voices. Each person has different abilities, and when they work together they used each ability to become in top shape for their competitions. They work hard to be the best and keep trying no matter what stands in their way.
The storyline is very engaging. It’s a amazing anime to watch with friends, family, or by yourself. The show is a must see, and I highly recommend it.
