The Perfect Date is a Netflix original moving starting Noah Centineo, Camila Mendes, and Laura Marano. This movie is about trying to accomplish your dreams, about friendships, and about finding your true self.
The main character Brooks Rattigan, who is played by Noah Centineo, has a goal to get into one of the fanciest schools: Yale University. The only problem is that he’s broke, and he still doesn’t know who he is as a person.
As mentioned, one of Brooks’s main goals is to get into Yale. He also has a dream to date one of the most popular girls: Shelby Pace, who is played by Camila Mendes. He decides to take Celia Lieberman, who is played by Laura Marano, to the high school dance because he will be getting paid. He loves the idea of getting payed so he begins to offer himself as a chaperone for other girls. I found this part of the plot really weird. I didn’t like the idea of him being a chaperone because there are better ways to get money.
He has been friends with Murph for a while but all of that seemed to change when Brooks began to chaperone himself to go on dates with random girls. We begin to see how their friendship begins to fall apart because Brooks seems to be changing as a person. I didn’t like seeing this because it seemed like Brooks felt that he was too good to be spending time with Murph. Also I feel like Brooks forgot that without Murch, he would not go on the amount of dates he did because it was Murph who had programmed the site.
Throughout the movie, we begin to see how Brooks is changing as a person. This is part of the reason because he acts like a different person each time he goes out in a different date with a different girl. He begins to realise that he needs to find out who he is as a person. He also had realised that he didn’t have plan if he were to get into Yale. This whole time he had been worrying just about getting accepted. I did like to see that Brooks finally realises that he needed to change because it was ruining himself as a person and ruining his friendships.
Some people mentioned how the movie was interesting and that it was just like any other movie that Noah Centineo has started in. I disagree because this time it included him offering himself on dates with random girls which I did find weird.
