Spinning J Bakery and Soda Fountain is a great restaurant that offers attentive service, average tasting food, and antique decor.

At Spinning J Bakery and Soda Fountain, you will find great service that will make you feel like the center of attention. The food on display will also make your saliva drip from your mouth. The decor at this restaurant will make you feel as if you have traveled back in time to the coffee shops that you see in 90’s movies and shows.

The employees at Spinning J Bakery and Soda Fountain will make you feel special. They will talk to you in a tone that will make you feel like the only customer. As you make up your mind on what to order, they are patiently waiting in front of the cash register. If you can not decide what to get, you can ask the workers for advice and they will kindly give you their opinion on what is best there.

While you wait for your food, the employees are constantly looking in  your direction to make sure that you are not getting frustrated as you wait. If they notice that you get frustrated, they signal each other to make sure that you receive your order as soon as possible.

Once I ordered, I waited for about 10-15 minutes to get my food.  My father and I got an Iced Latte and a chocolate chip cookie. All together we paid a maximum of $14.

The chocolate chip cookie was a prime example of the saying: “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” The cookies both looked overbaked. They had a darker shade of brown than other chocolate chip cookies that I have seen. Both cookies were very thick.  As I took my first bite, I felt the tender cookie melt in my mouth. I could feel the chocolate chips turn into a thick and smooth substance. It was one of the best chocolate chip cookies that I have had in a long time.

As I took bites of my cookie, I also took sips of my latte. The latte lacked sweetness. It tasted like Cuban coffee. It was strong and bitter. The sweetness of the cookie balanced out the lack of sweetness in the latte. Both the latte and the cookie complemented each other.

As I ate my food, I observed how the restaurant is decorated. Mostly everything is made out of wood. The booths have the perfect amount of padding. The decorations are creative and gave the restaurant a 90s theme. For example, the specials are written in chalk on a wooden sign. The sign is located on top of a wagon. The last time I remember seeing specials written with chalk was in a “Friend’s” episode.

An individual who reviewed J Bakery and Soda Fountain claimed that “The food wasn’t good at all. The Prices seemed high.” I would have to disagree with this comment because I personally thought that the cost for my purchase was fair. Even though I didn’t quite like my latte, I loved the cookie and how they both went well with each other. The quality of food and prices were good. I would definitely go back to J Bakery and Soda Fountain.
