Pritzker’s Video Promotion

This school year, Pritzker has started to update their promotion video. It is used for eighth graders enrolling or teachers thinking about working at Pritzker.

Students have been curious and wondering what are the cameras for? When seeing the cameras around the lunch or in the hallways, students would get shy and try not to be in camera.

While interviewing Julia Martinez, Recruitment and Enrollment Director, stated, “ The video is for recruitment reasons, for student recruitment and for teacher recruitment purposes.” Students who are attending Pritzker will not get the chance to see the video,  but can stop by her office and ask to see it. Martinez stated, that the video will be shown to students who are in eighth grade and teachers who are thinking about wanting to work at Pritzker. The video will be coming out before Christmas break or the end of November.

Martinez also mentioned, that the video is important because she has seen and used videos made by students and teachers but not a professional one that can be used and one that she wanted to use to promote the school. “ We thought it would be a good idea to get one that was professionally done” stated Martinez. Therefore the school hired a camera crew to record the video promotion.

By hiring these camera professionals it was a good advantage for certain clubs, like Film Club. Martinez had sent out an email to Sarah Cross, Film Club sponsor, to see if students wanted to be a part of the film production. This would help out the students to learn how to edit and stage a setting. “Unfortunately no one wanted to volunteer. It would’ve been cool thing but maybe it was because it was short notice” said Martinez.

When asked how the idea of the video promotion began Martinez stated, “ Well we had videos before and we wanted to use one that would be  more like a commercial video […] to have a six minute video that encompasses Pritzker and adds a little bit of history.” Martinez added that the video was student led. Martinez also said, that using this video promotion will help as a tool and it will help her recruit.

When asked what was going to be shown in the video Martinez stated, “ It’s student led […] we selected students that were good in academic standing, involved in sports, and who are well rounded. [Students] were interviewed and took ownership of the video pretty much, I wasn’t really in charge of that part.” Students were asked questions ,such as why did you choose Pritzker? What do you like most about Pritzker? Was Pritzker your top choice? What schools are you looking at to apply? What sports are you involved in? Also, the students were randomly picked.

Martinez wanted a wide range of different students and wants to make a note that not all students will make it into the video.
