Mother Clucker’s Kitchen: Home-cooked Southern food

By Analisa Burgos ’18

Mother Cluckers, known for its Southern cuisine, tastes like no other! The food is mouth-watering and eye pleasing. The decorations are simple and rustic, and the customer service is always up to par.

The food here at Mother Cluckers Kitchen is absolutely delicious! Mother Cluckers is best known for their hush puppies, a small deep fried ball made out of cornmeal, and homemade mashed potatoes and macaroni. Here, I ordered the chicken tenders with the sides of macaroni and mashed potatoes. This dish tasted like heaven! The chicken was crisped just right and the sides were nice and creamy. To add on to the  plus side, the portion sizes are totally worth the price!  You will definitely be taking a doggy bag home.

In the restaurant, there are no TVs because they want your experience at Mother Cluckers to be filled with laughter and joy-filled conversations. The tables are nice and spaced out. Around the walls are many signs and posters that contain history of Chicago’s sports and music. This just makes your eating experience a tad more interesting.

The customer service is fantastic! As you walk into the restaurant you are greeted with a big smile and a loud, “Welcome to Mother Cluckers!” The waitresses are always there at your every need and really make you feel like you’re at home. Also, if there is ever an issue with your meal they will correct it by bringing a fresh order out.

One has said that Mother Cluckers food is not worth the price they sell for. Yet, Mother Cluckers food is always freshly made hot and ready to go. The portion sizes on the plate can feed at least two people.

If you’re looking for some good ole southern cooking and great portion sizes Mother Cluckers is the place to go!
