“Joy Yee Plus”: Joy or no joy at Joy Yee Plus?

By  Cynthia Hernandez ’22

“Joy Yee Plus” has great service, delicious food, and appealing decor. Joy Yee Plus is located in Chinatown, and they have a large selection to choose from. From bubble waffle ice cream to hot pots to even ramen. Everything is so delightful from food to their decor.

At the restaurant, there was a group of workers made up of six to seven employees. When I ordered, the cashier was really patient with even though I was being indecisive. The employees’ jobs were all different from making teas to making the waffle ice creams; they all worked at a good pace, in other words, they were really quick to accomplish their customer’s orders so that the customer could be satisfied.

After that, my order of “Mango with me,” which was the bubble waffle ice cream, took about five to six minutes to be ready.  The food offered makes a person come back for more. I love mango, so, for my order of the bubble waffle, I ordered: “Mango with me.” When I received my order it was about a total of 10 dollars, and it was worth it. But the prices may vary depending on what you order. My order came with the bubble waffle, the ice cream was soft serve mango, and that was topped off with whipped cream, a macaroon, two pocky sticks, mini mochi, which were various flavors, and with fresh pieces of mango. I was in awe when I first saw it because of the bright colors.

When you first enter “Joy Yee Plus” it looks really modern and organized. The teas are all arranged on a shelf and above, or kinda next to them, is the menu which is really colorful and bright. There are two paintings on one side of the walls. The paintings are inspired by some animes, and those animes are eating their products. Some examples of these animes include “Naruto,” “One Punch Man,” “Little Witch Academy,” and even “Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma.”

“This place has terrible service. Extremely unorganized. We waited in line for a table and were served after these couples came after us,” said Thu T.

I would disagree with the part about the “terrible service” because from my experience the service was good. Now about the  “extremely unorganized” part I thought actually thought the opposite. However, I can’t say much about waiting for a table because I didn’t have to wait for a table, so I didn’t have any trouble with that.
