Cafe Marie Jeanne: An unpleasant restaurant for Sunday brunch

Cafe Marie Jeanne is not an enjoyable French restaurant. The decor is simple, most employees are rude, and the coffee is unsatisfying.

As you walk into Cafe Marie Jeanne, the first thing you will probably encounter is a huge plant next to the waiting area. I personally did not like the plant. It was too big and was randomly placed on the floor. You will also notice white curtains on the big windows; I liked the curtains and how simple they were. After I walked in, I went to a counter to write down my name and the number of my party. After I had done so, I was given an approximate wait time.

The employee at the counter was extremely nice. She greeted me with a huge smile. If she is not already having a conversation with another customer, she will begin to have a conversation with you and give you company as you wait.

After our waiting period of about 15 minutes was up, a new employee came to get us and directed us to the table of our choice.

Since it was my first time at Cafe Marie Jeanne, I was very unsure of what to get. I asked our server for any recommendations and she gave me different choices. None of the recommendations seemed appealing. After the recommendations, I still needed time to think so I only ordered something to drink. The waiter seemed to have gotten upset because I had chosen to wait and decide what I wanted to eat.

I purchased a caramel cappuccino. The caramel cappuccino was tasteless. It didn’t have sugar at all, and it definitely didn’t taste like caramel. It felt like I was drinking plain black coffee. The cost of the drink was so not worth its quality.

After getting my drink, I asked if they had a certain pastry, and our server said that they had run out of it. I then asked about a couple other pastries and they had also run out of them. I was extremely annoyed that they didn’t have about three items that I asked for.

A customer claimed, “My 6th visit so far… Super friendly staff, always smiling. Food is very rich, but worth it! My favorite dish by far is the chicken liver mousse. Omelet eggs are perfect with roe and trout.” I totally disagree with this customer. The staff is not friendly. The employees are mostly rude and unwelcoming.

If I would recommend any restaurant to someone, I would definitely not recommended Cafe Marie Jeanne.
