“Natsume Yuujinchou” is an amazing show to watch and you can genuinely connect with the characters. The art and animation is fabulous and remarkable. The voice of the actors fit perfectly  with the characters and the character designs are simply wonderful.

The anime revolves around a young adult named Natsume Takashi.     Ever since he was a child Natsume Takashi has been able to see youkai, which are  supernatural beings such as demons, spirits and demigods. He keeps his ability a secret because, as a child, he was called a liar by everyone since they could not see the youkai and did not believe him. He finds out that his grandmother Reiko had the same ability to see them but could also fight them. She collects the names of youkai, which is very valuable because knowing a youkai name allows you to control them, and made a book. Natsume then understands that he is always being targeted by youkai so that they could steal the book and use it to enslave the youkai. Natsume starts to free the spirits names so that they won’t be used against them. By doing this he becomes friends with many youkai that start to care for him and help him on this quest.

I really loved the show because it is very sad and sweet at the same time. In each episode Natsume’s childhood is reveal or a hurtful moment he has is shown and that draws the viewer in. These moments makes the viewer want to watch more to find out how difficult and depressing Natsume’s life has been. I enjoyed how the anime also goes into some of the youkai’s stories because it reveals the reason why they are mean and why they hate humans.  Natsume tends to be in his own world and has a hard time making friends because he does not make to involved them, however he does make some that understand him and accept him for who he is.

The storyline is simple yet engaging. It’s a amazing anime to watch with friends, family, or by yourself. The show is a must see and I highly recommend it.
